On this day in ...... 1989 (20 years ago today), Act No. 372 of June, 1989, to which the Danish monarch, Queen Margrethe II, had given royal assent, took effect. Thus was authorized the Denmark registered partnership, the world's 1st same sex civil union. It permits registration as long as 1 partner in the couple is a Danish national.
