On this day in ...... 1957, 13 Americans were wounded when outposts of the Military Assistance Advisory Group (logo at right) and U.S. Information Service were bombed in Saigon, then the capital of South Vietnam (today, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam). The event marked the 1st U.S. military casualties in Vietnam -- the 1st in a war that would claim many more over the next decade and a half.
