
... 2000 (10 years ago today), in Brussels, Belgium, the European Commission opened an antitrust case against Microsoft, the U.S. software giant. Microsoft was given 2 months to reply to a set of EC objections. In 2003, a suit would be filed, eventually resulting in a 2007 judgment by the Grand Chamber of the Court of First Instance of the European Communities. That tribunal imposed fines against Microsoft. Disputes continue.
