... 2009 (today), is marked the International Day Against Fascism and Anti-Semitism. The day 1st was proclaimed on this day in 1988. (credit for 2004 poster) That year was the 50th anniversary of the Nazi pogrom against German Jews known as Kristallnacht, as the widespread violence included smashing of windows and other property destruction, in addition to attacks on persons. More than 7000 Jewish businesses across the country were attacked. Around 200 synagogues were destroyed and 91 Jews were killed. More than 30.000 were arrested and sent to concentration.
