On this day in ...... 1929 (80 years ago today), a son was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to a minister and a former schoolteacher. ... 2009, the Tamil culture celebrates the multi-day harvest festival of Pongal. Pongal coincides with similar festivals in other Asian cultures, called, variously, Sankranti, Makar Sankranti, Uttarayan, and Lohri.
