On this day in ...... 1983, governmental officials signed an agreement that permitted the United States to test, in Canada, its military equipment, including cruise missiles, which may carry nuclear warheads. As a result, "protest demonstrations broke out in numerous cities" in Canada, "and a women's peace camp was established near the cruise test range in Cold Lake, Alberta." (map credit)
