On this day in ...... 1906, after a"fruitless" meeting with British Prime Minister Henry Campbell-Bennerman, rights activists held the 1st open-air women's suffrage rally in London. Among those who spoke to the approximately 7,000 persons -- mostly men -- who attended the meeting at Trafalgar Square were Annie Kenney (right) "(who dressed like a mill girl, wearing clogs and a shawl)" and Teresa Billington (left).
