(Go on is an occasional item on symposia of interest) The London School of Economics will be the site May 29-30, 2009, for The Great Lakes Pact Two Years On: Issues of Implementation and Enforcement, a symposium that follows up on a 2007 conference that had focused on the content of the 2006 Pact and its protocols.
Under review are efforts by the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region,
established by these 11 states in Central Africa: Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (see too post below), Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The Conference endeavors to provide a forum for resolving armed conflict, maintaining peace, security, stability, and laying the foundation for postconflict reconstruction in the region.Confirmed speakers include Kenyan Foreign Minister Moses Wetang'ula, Ambassador Liberata Mulamula of Tanzania (above right), former Mission of the United Nations in Congo advisor Lt.
