Our Newest IntLawGrrl: Josephine Mason King-Bond
Please join me in congratulating IntLawGrrl Johanna Bond, as well as her husband J.D. King and their sons Eli and Emmet, on the birth of Josephine Mason King-Bond. Josephine was born on December 9, 2009. She weighed 7 lbs., 7 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Both Johanna and Josephine are doing well--I've even received an email from Johanna since! Pictures coming soon.
Welcoming IntLawChildren
He joins big sister Maia, with whom he's pictured above. Susana says that Maia 1st called him "brother-sister," her birth reference to the unknown entity to come. Then she called him "Lucas" for about the 1st week of his life, because she decided she liked that name better than "Daniel." But, at last, she seems to be adapting to his name!
"We're a bit wiped out and still adjusting to things," Susana writes, "but thoroughly enthralled by the newest addition to our family."
To this newest arrival to the ranks of IntLawChildren, our youngest supporters, a very
Heartfelt welcome!
Our newest little IntLawGrrl
IntLawGrrls extends a heartfelt welcome to the darling at right: Scarlet Madeleine Osofsky Gitelson!
Born at 10:12 p.m. on October 8, 2008, Scarlet measured 7 lbs. 6 oz. in weight and 20.6 inches in length. She joins our ever-growing group of IntLawChildren.
Scarlet's home now with her brother Oz. He and their parents, IntLawGrrl Hari M. Osofsky and Josh Gitelson, couldn't be happier.
IntLawGrrls: Twice the Fun

I am happy to pass along the good news that our own Jenny Martinez has just given birth to not one, but two new IntLawGrrls.
Patrice Sarah Graham-Martinez weighed 6 pounds, 1 ounce, and her sister Nancy Lucile Graham-Martinez was 5 pounds, 13 ounces. They are pictured above with big sis Alyse. (To be honest, I have no idea which is which above - one of the few ways to tell these two apart (they are identical twins) is by their different colored toe nail polish). All 3 are part of an ever-growing brood of IntLawChildren.
Congrats to Jenny and her husband David Graham!
New IntLawGrrls Arrival
Congratulations to Janie Chuang on the birth of her baby boy, Ian Henry Chuang Parrish. He was born on Friday, April 4, in the middle of the afternoon, providing Janie with the very best possible of reasons for having to miss the annual ASIL meeting. He weighed 7 lbs 5 oz at birth. Janie has recovered in record time and sends her regards to all. Ian is absolutely beautiful and, like all good IntLawChildren, is becoming an avid IntLawGrrls reader at a very young age!
New 'Grrl on the Block
Heartfelt congratulations go out to our "fellow" IntLawGrrl Jaya Ramji-Nogales and her husband, Luis Ramji-Nogales, on the birth of their daughter, Kala Elena Ramji-Nogales.Kala was born Friday, March 28 at 11:27 pm, weighing in at 7 lbs 1 oz. Jaya explains that Kala (pronounced Kah-luh) means "virtues" in Sanskrit (among many other meanings), "stone" in Aymara (an indigenous language of Bolivia; the Creator of the Andean world sculpted humankind in stone before calling them to life), "fire" in Aboriginal Australian, and "sun" in Hawaiian.
No doubt she is all that and so much more - Welcome Kala!
On February 3, ...
... 1998 (10 years ago today), at 6:45 p.m. Central time, Texas executed Karla Faye Tucker, the 1st woman put to death that state since the Civil War. Tucker, on death row for 15 years, had become a born-again Christian. Although evangelicals had taken up her cause,
her final appeals to the Supreme Court and to Gov. George W. Bush for a reprieve were denied today. She became the second woman executed in the United States since the Supreme Court allowed the death penalty to resume, in 1976.... 1916, a protest was led by French-speaking teachers whose pay had been frozen on account of their resistance to state-imposed language restrictions. The teachers' stirke closed 17 bilingual schools in Ontario, Canada.
World's tiniest IntLawGrrl
Pictured at right, wee Theota is the newborn daugher of Elena Baylis, our own Amelia Earhart! Theota arrived at 11:53 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces, she is, in her mother's own words, "adorable, of course." Mom Elena and Dad Don are both well and full of the awesome joy of parenthood. Congratulations to all!
