Liz earned her BCL, LLM, and PhD degrees from the National University of Ireland. She taught at University College Cork, Ireland, while conducting her doctoral research as a Government of Ireland scholar. As is apparent from her many publications, Liz is an expert on a range of criminal justice issues -- evidence, criminal procedure, criminal law, criminology and penology. Her guest post below draws from that expertise: the post outlines a paper, which Liz presented at an international law and society conference, concerning the erosion of individual rights in Ireland's criminal justice system.
