The listing followed by 6 days a binational agreement respecting the issue, the U.S.-Canada Memorandum of Understanding on Shared Polar Bear Populations.
Meanwhile, earlier this month:
An Australian researcher reported that "[k]oalas are threatened by the rising level of carbon dioxide pollution in the atmosphere because it saps nutrients from the eucalyptus leaves they feed on."
