Threats-to-bears update

Followup to IntLawGrrls' prior posts (here and here) on the issue:
This week the U.S. Department of Interior put polar bears on its "threatened species" list. The listing followed by 6 days a binational agreement respecting the issue, the U.S.-Canada Memorandum of Understanding on Shared Polar Bear Populations.
Meanwhile, earlier this month:
An Australian researcher reported that "[k]oalas are threatened by the rising level of carbon dioxide pollution in the atmosphere because it saps nutrients from the eucalyptus leaves they feed on."
With apologies to Stephen Colbert:
Dare one say that a carbon-spewing country like America is the No. 1 threat to bears?
